Design Project,
Luminating Voice Box (2019)
This was one of the few projects where designers could explore fun and various types of projects utilizing our developing skills set with Arduino.
Specifically to this project, it was an enjoyable learning experience. The insights and learning curves that were picked up along the way resulted in a more rewarding and gratifying project.
Process Work
Starting this project from scratch was initially a challenging consideration. Eventually the consideration between myself and my partner in this project took an interesting and more humorous approach in the end. The question of: What if we made a stress relieving device? was the question we decided to answer.
From there, we began looking into the electronic hardware required to achieve the end result we wanted. After figuring out the hardware and circuitry needed to operate everything, I began developing and creating an Arduino command that would manage the electronics and inputs. This portion of the project was left to me to understand and develop while my partner developed the physical encasement.
In the final version of the project, the illuminating voice box would do a couple of functions at the same time. The primary function is to utilize the sound level of a persons voice to light the LED strip inside the acrylic frost panel. The secondary function uses an LCD display to show the sound the level in decibels (dB) for the person to see.
The final result of the project, concluded in a successful and fun interaction that achieved resolving the question. Amongst other peers, the reception of our was well taken and enjoyed by others too.
