Exploration,
The TTC Wayfinding System (2020)

This was a project that allowed groups of designers to utilize research methods and design practices together to create solutions towards a specific problem. The project focused on creative ideas through research methods that utilized data analysis and design practices for prototyping and user testing.

Through multiple stages of data collecting and analysis, the project transitions from being researched based to a creative design solution project. Which brings the collective data and presents a grounded design solution based on the key insights of the data.

Process Work

Through the process of this project there were two phases to the project, (1) using qualitive research methods, create a collective database to analyze and (2) using the key insights through the analysis of data, create a design solution that meets the needs of the problem and the users. The focus of the project was to develop the necessary skillset involved in a research based design solution project, using real-world applications.

During the research phase of the project, the focus was to create a database from which each group of designers can begin to analyze the collected data. Each design member would create points of key insights that would later be utilized to help support the larger design solution.

From the research and key insights, each group of designers would proceed to generate ideas and solutions that would support their groups criteria to their design solution. Part of the design solution is being able to recognize the user experiences through methods such as multiple journey maps and identifying key points of interaction during the journey scenarios they face.

From the insights found through multiple user journeys, each group of designers can begin refining and narrowing the focus of their large design solution. By the end of the design solution process, each group will finalize on the intended design solution that fits with the problem they chose to address.
