Kroft Coat Stand,
Kroft x OCAD U (2019)

This was one of my early exposure projects to real-world applications. The goal of this project was to create a product that would fit into the existing catalogue of the start-up brand Kroft at the time of the project.

Through the design process to create an individually designed product. The final product in the end was very insightful and encouraging to understand the process work behind creating a product.

Process Work

Going through the design process of the collaboration product was very encouraging. From the early stages of the project, learning to narrow the focus and center on a specific type of product was important to creating a unique product.

After going through various ideas and versions of different types of products, the focus of my product ended up being a coat stand. Part of the challenge to this project was also considering the use of already existing components from Kroft's catalogue of products, in order to repurpose and prevent additional manufacturing waste from a new product.

At the end of the project, my coat stand managed to be a manufactured entirely through repurposed components in the catalogue. The manufacturing process of my prototype and the final version were also very enjoyable learning processes. Which ended up being a more rewarding part of the project overall.
