Bonsai Room,
LTS x OCAD U (2023)
This was a collaborative design solution project that introduced design students to an exciting opportunity to work alongside Lets Talk Science (LTS). In 2022, LTS introduced a research initiative to develop a report in partnership with high school students. This research initiative would eventually turn into a research report brief addressing the disconnect between high school and climate action.
At the start of 2023 school year, LTS introduced the research brief to a class of design students as an initiative to develop unique design solutions based on the key insights and findings of the report. This project showcases the work of one groups design solution, this project reflects the work and scope of all members contributions.
Process Work
During the process of this project, design students in their groups focused a direction that would provide a creative solution in response to research brief given. In the early stages of the process, groups focused on generative questions that would instill the core values of a solution going forward. From generative questions we moved into the ideation and concept building to explore potential development solutions.
Once a concept and development direction has been decided, groups moved into a phase of prototype testing concepts to consider the experience. Feedback internally within the groups and externally from high school students provided more realistic and practical insights into further developing the concept solution. By the end of the project, groups had the opportunity to present their solutions to the board of LTS as potential opportunities for initiative programs.
